History

What brought us here

Valgardia is a one-person studio built out of pure passion for video games. The effort to bring this studio alive is now finally crystallizing in the release of my first game, Regression.

Why horror?

Horror has always been a personal obsession of mine. From the days of "Paranormal Activity" to most of James Wan's films, like "The Conjuring," "Insidious," etc., to other well-known Japanese horror films like "The Grudge" or "The Ring," I'm always amazed at how the constraints imposed by the horror genre can fuel creativity where it is least expected.

Sharing my stories with the world

Since I can remember, storytelling has been, perhaps, my biggest passion. Even though I love to write, I believe that the intersection between image, sound and, most importantly, interactivity that video games provide is an incredible amplifier for stories, making it the perfect medium to tell them. I've been silent for most of my life, and I finally decided to take a step forward.

Trying to develop sustainably

In times where efficiency in game studios is being continually questioned, the focus of Valgardia is to achieve sustainable development, borrowing and applying most of the core principles of software engineering to video game development: code quality, reusability of logic, and focus on the quality of the product. This is a must for a one-person studio, where efficiency becomes key to releasing quality finished games.
